Oh! Temple, where are thou?

In the Middle Ages, the place which we call the Temple was the headquarter of the order of the Templar Knights in Paris, a real city within the city where the famous treasure of the Templars was believed to be hidden. A lot of urban myths has sprung from this fortress along the centuries but not so long ago, in the 1990s, the Temple Quarter was considered a bit of a “dead” area, with nothing more than wholesale shops and ateliers for the leather and jewelry industries. Now the neighborhood is experiencing an impressive renaissance as art galleries, trendy tearooms and restaurants take over old workshops in the quiet streets off the Rue de Bretagne. Some Parisians even insist on calling it NoMa, for North Marais but few people know about the mysterious ancient past of this district.

Naked Paris...

Nude is as old as art, it is even one of its central themes since prehistorical cave art. In our European cities, we are accustomed to seeing bare bodies used as lampposts or building pediments without questioning their presence. How come there's so much nudity everywhere??

That's what we're going to explore together

with this special walking tour which will take us from the Academy of Fine Arts  to the Richelieu district through the Tuileries Garden. We'll come across nudists made of plaster, marble and iron on our way and end up at a very particular bookseller.

Marais looks too cliché and overly crowded ?! and yet! It still has great wonders to offer for the one who doesn't mind to go astray the commercial streets, venture in narrow alleys and push carriage porches doors. Marais is like an historical layer cake, you'll find all French history there and your lovely guide will decipher it for you! Leaning houses from the Middle Ages, gorgeous aristocratic, mansions, scars from the WW2 next to top notch art spaces. Yes! Marais deserves a diligent exploration!
